Introduction

Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal is ebing published bi-annually by the Department of Islamic Studies at Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan. Al-Āfāq is the research journal of the Department of Islamic Studies, Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan. The significance of Islamic education has increased to a great extent in the modern-day world. Many religious and spiritual issues have become complex for the common man. Answers to these and many other such issues can only be sought in pure and practical research in Islamic education. With these vital goals and sacred objectives, the Department of Islamic Studies has launched its research journal named, Al-Āfāq is meant to facilitate its research scholars in creating a comprehensive and global understanding of Islam. Al-Āfāq aims to address the modern-day issues in light of the true teachings of Islam. AL- Aafaq aims to promote scholarly research on contemporary issues and complexities of the modern-day world in addition to the orthodox approach to research. One of the basic aims of the Journal of Islamic Studies is to develop a close linkage between the intellectuals and the common man of society with the help of scholarly research.

Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal is a tril-languages, double blind peer-reviewed, open-access research journal is being been published biannually since 2021 by the Department of Islamic Studies, Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan. Al-Āfāq is recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, "Y" Categaory.

Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal covers every field of research being conducted under the domains of Islamic thought and philosophy. Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal promotes harmonious understanding among various schools of thought. The Journal is playing a significant role in developing indigenous research approaches through its research innovations, which consequently will help improve the process of understanding Islamic values. One of the reasons behind publishing this journal was to promote the process of research in which resolutions can be found to the problems, that are being faced by society today.

Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal encourages researchers to produce quality research so that the purpose of study stays unharmed. It aims to play a vital role in the betterment of society by publishing quality research that includes the contemporary problems of society and how these problems can be resolved. It is very important to address these contemporary issues rather than highlighting the issues of the past because in today’s world people are facing new problems that differ from the old ones.

Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal interprets Islamic thoughts in the context of intellectual and advanced scientific approaches. Having the intellectual thoughts and scientific approaches side by side, this journal can help in enhancing the true meaning and spirit of Islam. One of the most vicious and harmful elements, that is being raised in a society is the idea that Islam “promotes” extremism. With the help of quality research, this journal aims to minimize such types of false interpretations of Islam.

Al-Āfāq Islamic Research Journal will continue its efforts to peruse and promote a profound and insightful study of Islam. From time to time the journal will publish special issues on various aspects of Islamic society.
